Graham Pitchfork, a retired Air Commodore, has collected 24 stories from individuals who all served on the frontline in a variety of roles, whilst based in different countries. 
If you have enjoyed any of the previous & very popular '___ Boys' series of aircraft books, this format will be familiar.

If you love the speed of the Lightning, Tornado & Harrier. Or possibly something a little steadier like the Shackleton, Hercules & Westland Whirlwind. This book will surely have a story for you.
From the front lines of Western Germany to the Far East. Each chapter concentrates on one individual sharing a part of their RAF career during those Cold War years. 
They all clearly took their front line roles seriously, but what also shines through & is mentioned regularly, is their 'Work Hard Play Hard' mentality. The Cold War was obviously an intense period to serve in, so Squadron life, both on camp & in the Officers Mess, had to provide a chance to unwind. Some of the antics involved in that unwinding will also be found here. 
All 24 chapters are very different & I found myself flying (sorry) through them. 

Once again Grub Street have produced a high quality hardback book, with some great photos, including the cover.
I'm sure this book will bring back a lot of memories for those readers who served. Whilst for the rest of us, it is just such a treat to have these stories down on paper. Highly recommended.

ROYAL NAVY FORCE H 1940-42 This is book 14 in Osprey's 'Fleet' series and is written by naval historian, Angus Konstam. If you have read any second world war books on the Mediterranean war and/or Malta, then it is highly likely that Force H and its well respected commander, V.Adm. Sir James Somerville, is mentioned. Based at Gibraltar, Force H patrolled both the Atlantic and the Western Mediterranean often escorting vital convoys to Malta. It was Somerville who led the fleet in the attack on the French fleet at Mers-el-Kébir and they would also be later involved in the hunt for the Bismarck.  As well as describing the fleet's ships, its commander and their wartime endeavors, the role and defences of Gibraltar is also covered.
