December 1944 sees the Germans launch Operation Autumn Mist. This was Hitler's plan to breakthrough the Allied lines and head West to the river Meuse and on to Antwerp.

Steven explains the German plans and introduces readers to those who would command the attack, the units involved and their battle plans.
As he states, the book's focus is on the 12.SS-Panzer Division's combat performance. Yet he still covers many topics including chapters covering the weather and the muddy conditions of the Ardennes in winter, before providing a fascinating day-by-day account of the battle.

Throughout the book there are plenty of excellent maps, tables and photographs, as well as more figures shared in the Appendix.
It is another excellent and highly readable book by the author that I most certainly recommend.

ROYAL NAVY FORCE H 1940-42 This is book 14 in Osprey's 'Fleet' series and is written by naval historian, Angus Konstam. If you have read any second world war books on the Mediterranean war and/or Malta, then it is highly likely that Force H and its well respected commander, V.Adm. Sir James Somerville, is mentioned. Based at Gibraltar, Force H patrolled both the Atlantic and the Western Mediterranean often escorting vital convoys to Malta. It was Somerville who led the fleet in the attack on the French fleet at Mers-el-Kébir and they would also be later involved in the hunt for the Bismarck.  As well as describing the fleet's ships, its commander and their wartime endeavors, the role and defences of Gibraltar is also covered. This is an added bonus as most books generally only give Gibraltar a passing mention.
