THE CAMPAIGN IN NORWAY

This book was originally part of a post-war series of official histories giving a broad account of events from the British perspective. The author would have had full access to documents as well as being able to interview the leading figures involved.

This weighty book not only covers the various battles across Norway on land, sea and air, it also addresses the reasons for both sides wanting to occupy the country.
It is a very comprehensive account that includes some interesting photos of Norwegian locations, but it is the wonderful coloured maps that deserve great praise.
The campaign proved to be quite disastrous for the Allies and would bring to an end Neville Chamberlain's Premiership and see the arrival of Winston Churchill to Number 10.
For an official history the author does not hold back in his criticism of where things went wrong and the decisions that eventually led to defeat. 

The publisher has used a high quality glossy paper and the entire narrative is reprinted in full. This is my third book from the series and I would highly recommend them all.
I look forward to reading more of the series that are beside me and awaiting my attention.

ROYAL NAVY FORCE H 1940-42 This is book 14 in Osprey's 'Fleet' series and is written by naval historian, Angus Konstam. If you have read any second world war books on the Mediterranean war and/or Malta, then it is highly likely that Force H and its well respected commander, V.Adm. Sir James Somerville, is mentioned. Based at Gibraltar, Force H patrolled both the Atlantic and the Western Mediterranean often escorting vital convoys to Malta. It was Somerville who led the fleet in the attack on the French fleet at Mers-el-Kébir and they would also be later involved in the hunt for the Bismarck.  As well as describing the fleet's ships, its commander and their wartime endeavors, the role and defences of Gibraltar is also covered.
