My second book from these joint authors moves on to the North African campaign and begins with a really interesting look across all the Italian armed services as the campaign began. 
(A fabulous Appendix goes on to cover the country's many weapons, vehicles and much more) 

The narrative covers the different battles from Operation Compass right through to the campaign in Tunisia, all from the Italian point of view.
The authors also address the long-held reputation that most Italian soldiers suffered from a lack of fight. This unfair and rather inaccurate description has stuck through the many decades following the war. Yet readers will learn of many instances of Italian bravery, as well as stories of the German soldiers being the ones to actually run away, leaving the Italian soldiers to fight on by themselves.

This fascinating book certainly makes for a valuable addition to the subjects of the second world war and the North African campaign within it.
Again readers will enjoy the great selection of photos throughout. 
A highly recommended read.

ROYAL NAVY FORCE H 1940-42 This is book 14 in Osprey's 'Fleet' series and is written by naval historian, Angus Konstam. If you have read any second world war books on the Mediterranean war and/or Malta, then it is highly likely that Force H and its well respected commander, V.Adm. Sir James Somerville, is mentioned. Based at Gibraltar, Force H patrolled both the Atlantic and the Western Mediterranean often escorting vital convoys to Malta. It was Somerville who led the fleet in the attack on the French fleet at Mers-el-Kébir and they would also be later involved in the hunt for the Bismarck.  As well as describing the fleet's ships, its commander and their wartime endeavors, the role and defences of Gibraltar is also covered.
