SWORDFISH UNITS OF WORLD WAR 2

No 157 in Osprey's Combat Aircraft series reveals the fascinating service of the Fairey Swordfish. 

So often described as an obsolete aircraft by the time war broke out in 1939, the Swordfish would actually serve in a variety of different theatres and roles throughout the second world war. From the overseas campaigns in Norway, the Mediterranean and Pacific. Whilst not forgetting closer to home and patrolling the English Channel, protecting convoys and the constant fight against the U-boats. 

The Swordfish would also carry out the incredible raid on the Italian Naval Fleet at Taranto and be heavily involved in the sinking of the Bismarck. 

A truly iconic aircraft deserving its story shared. Thankfully it has an extremely knowledgeable historian in Matthew, to tell that story.

This is another excellent book both on the Swordfish and in Osprey's series. Full of great photos and I was particularly impressed with the specially commissioned profiles showing off the 'Stringbag' in a range of camouflage schemes.
